Additional Budget Ideas for Travelers
Sunday, March 21st, 2010I had a problem come up recently and found a great way to handle it. It was just before Christmas 2009, and suddenly I had a family emergency. I was scheduled to leave for Florida on New Year’s Eve, but I had to be in Denver on December 28th. Searching for reasonable fares was not very productive. There were no cheap flights available. In order to get any assistance at all meant about $500.00 out of pocket, and almost all of the flights were packed—no seats. So, I called the airline I was booked with who did not charge for itinerary changes. They were very nice, and helped me change my schedule that allowed me to lay over in Denver for a couple of days. My original flight plan was through Phoenix and then on to Orlando. After really searching their records they found available seats and charged me only $123.00 more for the ticket. It helps to work with an airline that is reasonable and values Customer Service. This particular airline also has a good baggage policy, and that can save a traveler quite a bit of money.
